Zen and the Art of Faking It
by Jordan Sonnenblick
San Lee has moved so many times in his life he’s sure that this time will be no different. As he’s trying to figure out who he’ll be in this new place (skater? jock?) he accidentally falls into the role of Zen master. It seems to fit him pretty well. Unfortunately, his mom is white, not Chinese like him, his dad is in prison, and he has to learn about Buddhism from books. But it’s worth the hassle to gain the approval of Woody, a beautiful and talented girl. Before he knows it San is volunteering at a soup kitchen, coaching the B basketball team, and doling out wisdom and advice that he can’t seem to take himself. Not to mention all the Zen stuff makes lying harder and harder. Will he be able to straighten out the mess, and his life?
