The Liberation of Gabriel King

Gabe King has decided not to go to the fifth grade. It’s just too scary with the mean teachers and the big West Wing, and of course Duke Evans. But his best friend, Frita, is determined to liberate Gabe from his fears so that that can move up together. And to show she’s a good sport she does some liberating of her own. But there’s a lot to fear in Georgia in 1976. Spiders and eighteen wheelers might be the start, but before long Gabe and Frita have to take on discrimination, hatred, loneliness, and fear itself.
