Kiki Strike: Inside the Shadow City
by Kirsten Miller
When Ananka Fishbein watches an enormous sinkhole swallow the park outside of her window she has no idea that it will be the beginning of the biggest adventure of her life. Inside the hole is a secret room which leads to yet another secret chamber. Since workers interrupt her before she can explore, she dedicates her life to the history of New York City, both above and below ground. This pays off when she notices a small, white-haired girl who draws Ananka’s curiosity. When Kiki Strike invites Ananka to join a group of ex-Girl Scouts dedicated to exploring the Shadow City that lies beneath the surface of New York she jumps at the chance. But things aren’t always what they seem, and one adventure leads to another and another.
